‘Murphy ‘ Tiny FH Ayres Swing Stand Rocking Horse

Murphy is a tiny tiny FH Ayres swing stand rocking horse in fairly original condition c 1900. He has had a new saddle and blanket added and some new leather to the missing parts of his bridle.

A feature that is not common is that he has a stamp on the base of his stand ‘395 Patented Jan 2 1880’.   This refers to the fact that the swing stand was patented on that date after it was introduced to the factories in the UK by a craftsman from Ohio in the US.  (Reference: ‘A Kiss of Rocking Horses’ by David Kiss)

An elegant head carriage with a very fine face, particularly for a horse of this small size.
